I watched the Building Bridges song contest and Loved it, it was awesome. Sweden won, Russia got Second and Italy was Third. Australia had their first year and got Fifth. Eurovision builds bridges between Countries, I have always had a Love for this with Chef jobs and being a foodie.

During my days of living in Oamaru and growing up there I went to a Oamaru Garden Wedding at the Red Bridge and the reception was at Weston at the King Charles Hall. Was a lot of fun as I grow up with the Quarry their yeah Cat music. During the Athens Olympic  I did Wedding Catering in Kurow and their Hall looks more like a Castle awesome. When I lived in Geraldine I got an Italian none stick Catering job at The Top Paddock went and worked for a Japan Factory and went to work for Mount Cook and learnt to make Sushi. I worked for Robbie’s Timaru Scottish and The South Of The Boarder Mexican Restaurant. I then went to work for The Godley carrying workmen who were building a bridge.

I now work for the Razza Wild Buck Beer Bar and Bistro and my Love for being a Check and the Dreams we have are still going strong, but I need to have a Holiday and after Queen’s Birthday I am leaving to go on Holiday and have a much-needed break because of all this work just makes me tired. I have been working continually and at times have really enjoyed it, put some people just don’t let you rest when you really need it, they need to just let it go and get on with their own life.


Imagine the following scenario:

A citrus range owner named Ian hires two pickers to harvest his Orange crop. Throughout the first week the pickers continually harvest and bring Ian many bushels of Oranges. The next week Ian is excited by this yield and decides that the pickers should keep on picking all night instead of having Dinner and going to bed. So the next week the pickers pick all day and all night without rest or food. That week, they return with a smaller yield. Ian bellows at them that they must continue picking. By the third week, the pickers yield is yet smaller. Ian is panicked now because he needs those Oranges, and he begins to berate and terrorize the pickers until they finally limp back to work. Exhausted and starving, they can only pick a few Oranges a day. As the weeks go on, the pickers become so depleted and haggard that they cannot even reach up and pick one Orange.

This is a Metaphor for what happens to your adrenal glands when you get caught in the adrenaline rush lifestyle and do not allow your adrenal glands to rest and repair. When you remember about how much energy you used to have, how good you once looked and felt, and how soundly you used to sleep. It was because your adrenals were healthy and fully functioning back then.

For those who Love the lifestyle of the constant adrenaline rush, there is one more downside. When your adrenal tire and reduce their output of adrenaline, you will need more competition, more risk, more danger, more stimulus-more of the edge to get your adrenaline buzz. Paul Revere and the Raiders once sang: “Kicks just keep getting harder to find.” Although you may place greater demands on yourself to get the same response, eventually there is no more adrenal reserve. If you do not take measures to correct the situation, you may hit bottom emotionally and physically.



Moving into her thirties, Christine continued her hectic work life, smoking cigarettes, maintaining sugar consumption, and not making time to rest or to eat balanced meals. Her first real physical difficulties began in this decade of her life.

At thirty-one, Christine injured her spine. Perhaps her body was trying to tell her. “I need you to slow down and start paying attention because I can’t keep up with you. If you don’t start taking care of me, things are going to go seriously wrong..” Christine did not hear this or acknowledge these warnings. After her recovering from her spinal injuries, even though she suffered from leg numbness, she did not stop working or even slow down her pace.

Totally, exhausted, she collapsed and reinjured her spine. At this point,if Christine had stopped to rest, her adrenal glands would have repaired themselves and been able to support her body. By thirty-six, quit smoking and gave up all stimulants. This was a great thing to do for her body. Unfortunately, Christine did not slow down. “She was on the fast train.” She though she was doing the right thing by exercising. But she was only getting four or five hours of sleep at night, which prevented her body flowing into the alkaline tide to Rest, Repair and Regenerate. Her body did not have enough time to wind down and fully enter the night state of repair. Then, bouncing out of bed before she had a change to repair launched her body back into a full day state. Christine spent too many hours of the day and night in an acidic state of dominance.

There was no denying that Christine had reached the next stage Burn-out at forty-seven years old. Christine had a heart attack while going on a flight to Paris while doing a fashion show. She then had to under go open heart surgery. The actual surgery was the Ultimate reality check. The surgeons had told her that she would be back on her feet in six weeks, but six weeks after surgery it still hurt to breathe. Christine was fragile and weak. Her arduous recovery lasted over a year.

“People asked, “How could you end up with open-heart surgery after all the things you did to get yourself well and healthy?” She told them it must have been all the stress I was under. They were shocked, they really didn’t believe that stress does these things even though they hear it all the time. They look at you and say, “Yeah, yeah, if your stressed go to Cancun.”

It is true that Christine’s stress was a primary contributing factor in her adrenal exhaustion, which ultimately lead to her heart disease. The good news was that Christine followed this Diet and Nutrition, she began to heal and her health improved. At age forty-nine, everything Christine touches still turns to gold. Is the two hours after eating food. You body is constantly adjusting to these from day to night. It is like having your hands on the steering wheel of your car. You do not steer in an absolutely straight line-even if the road is relatively straight and smooth. You constantly make adjustments to the steering wheel. Likewise, your autonomic nervous system is constantly making adjustments from sympathetic to parasympathetic mode.

When your body’s autonomic nervous system flows from one to the other, it is a time for your body to balance the day’s acidity. This is known as the alkaline tide. That also balance your body pH levels. That allows all the repair processes, such as making new cells, membranes, tissues, enzymes, hormones, and neurotransmitters, to continue.

Before electricity, sitting by the light of a fire at night was a natural way for our ancestors to change rhythm and to wind down from a day of work. When the fire burned out after a couple of hours humans went to sleep, and their bodies flowed gently into the alkaline tide, the natural repair and rejuvenation phase, when cells, membranes, tissues, hormones, enzymes, and neurotransmitters are regenerated.

But with today’s lifestyle of some people this important body process is being depleted and this is when your body really starts too suffer. To much coffee, living on takeaways, not getting enough rest, health problems, smoking and environment problems the body struggles to keep up with the demands you are constantly putting on your body.

This is why it is important to slow down and have a day of complete rest and look after what your body needs, so you have less sick days, less stress, a better sex drive, a happier mood. All it takes is a few small changes and your own body can make the adjustments it needs to do the right processes to repair and make you less tied.







Highly ambitious people tend to love the adrenaline rush, risk-taking, and rising to challenges. Unfortunately, as people progress along in life, they often become more and more successful but less able to enjoy the fruits of their labours. You have it all, but you feel too tired or too overscheduled to enjoy what you have earned. It is just not as much fun as it used to be. You may wonder how it happened. You may feel that there is nothing you can do about it now; that it is too late. There is actually plenty you can do about it. Do you run on empty, preferring the high from hunger to the “full sleepy feeling”. There’s an adrenaline thing going on when you are not eating and you are working hard and feeling edgy. “You love being on edge with that feeling of everything being sharp. It’s almost like taking uppers and having a high”. Indeed, the adrenaline rush is very much like the high you get from drugs. And it just so happens that the adrenaline rush is the high that seduces many people.

Stress hormones such as adrenaline are secreted from your adrenal glands to prepare the body for acute and chronic physical and emotional stress. Most of us have heard of the adrenal glands, but very few people understand how they function and why they are important. Your two adrenal glands are triangular-shaped organs weighing less than five grams each that rest one above each kidney. These glands-about the size of two or three pinto beans each-secrete adrenaline and other stress hormones that influence nearly every bodily function.

The release of adrenaline is roughly proportional to the intensity of a situation. In other words, the amount of stress hormones that are secreted, and at what intervals, is determined by the degree of “danger” perceived by the brain. Encountering a great white shark while on vacation would elicit a larger and longer adrenaline response than going to a surprise birthday party in your honour. The adrenaline response occurs in the time it takes to snap your fingers.

The neo-cortex of the brain supposedly differentiates humans from all other animals. It is where memory, learning, speaking, and other intellectual functions, including processing the stimuli from your world, take place. The neo-cortex is the initially registers any given experience. Beneath the neo-cortex is the limbic system, which is sometimes referred to as the emotional brain. The limbic system translates sensory input into emotion. Instantaneously, your hypothalamus registers this information. Simultaneously, the sympathetic mode of your auto nervous system reacts, causing the rapid release of adrenaline, the fight-or-flight hormone from your adrenal medulla-the inner portion of your adrenal glands.

The adrenaline response can also be secreted without an emotional trigger. You could be in a serious car accident and be unconscious, and your adrenals would be pumping adrenaline like crazy in an attempt to manage your blood pressure and to otherwise stabilize your body in a life-threatening situation.

Although fear and danger are the greatest motivators of the adrenaline response, all of your excitatory experiences result in what is referred to as a rush. In other words, experiences that are stimulating, such as getting an unexpected bonus at work, result in this high. unstimulating experiences, such as vegging out in front of the T.V or ironing, generally do not. The sensation of the adrenaline rush is caused by the release of three factors into your system at the same time:(1) energy from sugar stored in your liver and muscles; (2) the feel-good neurotransmitter dopamine; and (3) internally created opiates called endorphins. With the release of these three factors you suddenly feel energized, fully alert, and euphoric.

The adrenaline response dates back tens of thousands of years to when the fight-or-flight response meant the difference between a prehistoric human’s life or death. This survival reaction was appropriate thousands of years ago because it was a response to dramatic danger-like being chased by a wild animal that was intent on eating you.
